Affiliate marketing, at its core, has been going on for years and years. However, the changes in it have become apparent with the arrival of the internet. Affiliate marketing can be dated back to the days of the traveling salesman. He’d knock on the doors of people’s houses and sell the product. If he sold the product, he’d get commissioned. What affiliate marketing does is give that company a chance to sell a ton more copies. What they do is provide access to the product to individuals. These individuals, in turn, try and sell the product themselves to anyone who may be interested. In return, these individuals get a commission based on the value of the book and how many they sell.

The reason that this is such a good move is because the company doesn’t have to worry about advertising. They contact a large pool of people and tell them what they’re selling and the percentage that they’ll earn if they sell a copy. They take the marketing and put it into the hands of the individual. In return, an individual doesn’t have to create a product to sell one. So, they only need to be salesmen and not spend money on creation. So, it is an equal exchange.

Affiliate marketing has become a massive business since the internet has grown. The exchange of services between the company and the individual has made millions for individuals. The power of word of mouth is stronger than any advertising campaign and therefore, affiliate marketing is the future of how companies make money. Stores are a great way; however, you trust a friend more than a company and that’s how affiliate marketing works.

Those that buy from an affiliate marketer trust that person. Those that develop a following and sell these products are reliable sources for the customer. The future of sales is in the hands of the marketer. It’s an inevitable truth.
